Oh, you think YOU've got it bad? Pff.

Because I don't feel like delving into the actual argument where I saw this bit, and because I'm too lazy to do the link thing right now, you'll just have to guess where this came from:

I still laugh at the irony: that I try to encourage people to look at the whole of a story before judging it and I now find myself being judged as the next Mad Thinker or anon a mouse by people who won't read the whole of my body of work.

Ha!

Buddy, you should try to actually BE Anon, a Mouse, and get pre-judged and dismissed out of hand for having a difference of opinion.

My heart bleeds.

(In point of fact, though, it'd be a mistake to say that such dismissal upsets me THAT much. It is a little annoying to deal with some people who refuse to even comprehend some of the ideas you try to communicate, either through simple lack of reading comprehension or a dogged insistence on not giving up one virtual centimeter in a debate lest they be forced to, oh, I dunno, reconsider some long-held item of faith, BUT I can't muster up enough hurt feelings to go begging people to look at my entire output 'cause I'm not really that bad of a guy, oh woe.

Dismissal runs both ways; for every person who says "yeah, it's just Anon, a Mouse again saying the same old stuff", I can just as easily say, "well, that's so-and-so, another closed mind feeding off its own assumptions and prejudices".

Although, it is interesting to get dismissed out of hand by some folks who complain bitterly about how the rest of the world won't even try listen to their wisdom 'cuz the rest of the world's all evil and full of misogynists. "Listen to me! But I don't have to listen to you!" *applause*)

Suck it up! You said it, deal with it! Stop seeking approval from people who will never ever give it to you regardless of how hard you grovel...

Okay, I'm curious now. Who's blog did this come from. You really do need to put in a link or give us and address here, Anon. :)

Eh, if you insist.

The title pulled me in off WFA; but I realized during a brief skim that whatever the actual disagreement is about, I don't really have a dog in the race. Don't know, don't care. The only thing that kept me from me hitting the BACK button quicker was seeing my pseudonym name-dropped.

Thanks for the link, Anon. It checked this stuff out and found it all very amusing.

It was like watching two or three bullies you hate beating the snot out of each other. It was glorious.

Guess it goes to show that the overly judgemental have no real friends or allies. Mere those who they feel support them and those who are "the enemy." Of course, we've already known that for some time, haven't we? ;)

Um, I hate to tell you, but you were off key. And you missed that F sharp, too. Seriously, nails on a chalkboard would have almost sounded better than you did. Nice try, though. Don't give up your day job... unless this IS your day job and then I suggest you find a new one. :)

No, no, this is interesting. You can parse it in ways probably not originally intended.

"COMMENT'S FATED / TO BE JAMES AND I"

So this is, what? A dig supposedly poking fun at the idea that only James Meeley would be replying to my blog, how pathetic, just two wimminz-haters all alone, ho ho.

And yet here's "Ballad..." making three. And this is not only someone else motivated enough to plagiarize a Who song, but someone who must be more familiar with my ongoing blog than just some random smartass yahoo passing by.

Someone with an ax to grind. Say it in the Old Timey Strong Bad voice: "I'll show him What's For!"

Someone who can't bear to ignore me FOR REAL; that is, just not look at whatever I write, hit the Back button whenever they see my blog title load, all those good things, no, it's GOTTA SHOW HIM WHAT'S FOR MODE IS GO! Parodyspasm ignite!

So, NOW, as a result, instead of feeling, I dunno what was intended, shame? embarrassment? over being so mercilessly mocked, I am certain that I am getting under someone's skin. Instead of idly wondering if I'm actually reaching anyone out there, now I know for sure I am, and that at least a few of them are fretting about me and my posts enough to invest the energy to give me the ol' What's For.

"WHEN WIMMENZ LIE"

Have I ever called any woman a liar? Mistaken, misguided, perhaps. Liar? You'd have to really twist around and reinterpret anything I can recall writing to get to an outright accusation of lying...

Wait. Twist around and reinterpret... is that YOU, Nenena?

Because, of course, a painfully forced joke somehow becomes funnier if repeated.

Wasn't too long ago, was it, that a number of WFA notaries were closing off their blogs to "anonymous" postings, citing too many trolls and lack of common courtesy and general badness, hrumph hrumph, and a lot of those announcements were given the comforting back-pat: "there, there, dearie, you did the right thing, people can be so MEAN..."

Good to know the feminist fangirls have their own stock of trolls. Surely they can't be expected to live up to standards they demand from others, now, can they?

Hypocracy knows no bounds, including those of gender. This whole thing (i.e. feminism in comcis) is really just another "got you last game" with socio-political trappings.

It's about, what it is always about. What pissing matches like this have been about for eons: do as we say, not as we do. Don't hold up as a parenting style and it surely doesn't hold up here.

Eh, I don't think I'd say that. I think there's honest-to-goodness comics feminists with legitimate concerns out there, some of which I even agree with (and some of which I do not). It's equally unfair to just blanket all comics feminists with the same brush as it is for some feminist to snap-judge whatever I say based on the fact that it comes from my blog, not on the merits of what I actually say.

It would, however, be interesting to hear from the aforementioned "no-more-anonymous" bloggers and see how they think Whoville McTrollburger here compares to the trolls they banished.

It'd be one thing if those same bloggers condemned it just like they did their own trolls; if instead they're yukkin' it up 'cuz it's TROLL FOR GREAT JUSTICE, that *would* be something you could call hypocrisy.

Eh, maybe. But it seems highly suspect, to me, how those who might have those valid concerns and criticisms, only seem to reserve their rightous fury at the suopposed enemy (perferably male ones), yet fail to take note of the their own home grown trolls, like our "sampling" music-thief here.

It's like they don't care about equality, unless they get to dictate the terms of what that means. And until/unless they do, any tactic used on behalf of the cause is perfectly fine. They expect others (like yourself, for example) to play by certain rules, yet they feel that those who supposedly fight on their behalf are exempt from the same rules. They neither must follow rules of conduct you would expect/demand, nor even follow the same ones they lay down on you and the rest of thier "oppressors."

It'd be one thing if those same bloggers condemned it just like they did their own trolls; if instead they're yukkin' it up 'cuz it's TROLL FOR GREAT JUSTICE, that *would* be something you could call hypocrisy.

And that's exactly what they do. They don't condone those they oppose using certain tactics and whatnot, but anyone working in THEIR service gets a free pass to use whatever means they feel like using, even if they would cry foul if such tactics were used against them.

They are all a bunch of hypocrites. Even those within the movement are starting to see it (as jugded by the big uproar by WoC within the movement, over the lack of thier own ethnic-minded concerns being ignored, if not belittled, by the white side of the movement).

As usual, the movement is less about equality for all and just another case of "where's mine and to hell with anyone who doesn't fall within the scope of what I deem acceptable/desirable/correct."

Human beings, of whatever gender, are the most ego-centric and selfish-minded creatures to crawl on this planet. And it just irks the hell out of me, when one group or movement tries to come all head-up, telling everyone about how they are working for the betterment of everyone, when, in reality, it's only their own petty beliefs and demands they give a flying fig about.

I could probably forgive them their selfishness, pettiness and entitlement-minded attitude. I can't forgive them their intellectual dishonesty and ego-centric sense of martyrdom, that they are doing what they do for the betterment of anyone's position other than their own.

But that's just me. Your miles may vary.

Just to make sure:

When you use the acronym "WoC", judging from context, you are referring to something called "Women of Color", right? And not, say, Wizards of the Coast.

Because when I tried to look those initials up, I got a lot of different possibilities...

No! Not filking! That was banned by the Geneva Convention!

Yes, Mouse, that is what I was referring to.

Awww, wook at the widdle twoll! Twying so hard to be obtuse and sarcastic, but ending up merely pathetic and sad. Don't worry widdle twoll, some day you'll mouth off to the right person and get the shit knocked out of you for your twoubles. Aw, soooooo cute! :)

What WILL make me hit the anony-ban button real quick is anything that starts sounding like violent threats, so let's be real careful how we phrase things like that around here, m'kay?

I'm not particularly upset by the troll; please, do not be outraged on my behalf to the point of crossing that line. 'Taint THAT big a deal.

Hey, sorry about that. I wasn't actually issuing a threat. Think of it more as a wishful thought. You know, like the kind you have about that jackass at work who annoys you, or the school bully who taunted you every day. You always wished something bad to happen to them, as karmic payback for all the grief they had given you.

I'd never actually stoop to threatening violence on someone myself. But I am more than willing to wish ill for them (and have often done so many times before). ;)

Still, it's your house, so it's your rules. I will curb that tendancy here in the future.

I kind of wish I hadn't bothered following that link.
The funny thing about all of that back-and-forth? He sounds pleasant and reasonable, and she sounds bloody horrible. I wonder if Avalon realizes this? And somehow a disagreement about a comic book story gets turned into the moral equivalent of rape, wife beating, and drunk driving? Whatever.

But then, I'm just overflowing with privilege, so I'll never understand. I'm so privileged I don't even realize what a racist misogynist I am. Sigh. It's lonely at the top.
